Job Seeker Tips » Interview
The preparation before your interview is nearly as important as the meeting with the potential employer itself. Be prepared so that any unexpected turn of events doesn't rattle you on the big day.
Before The Interview:
- Research the company you are interviewing with. Study its web site and read any articles or books you can find about it. Your company knowledge will shine during the interview and will become a major factor in their decision.
- Understand the position you are interviewing for. Look up general requirements and responsibilities for the position and be prepared to talk about how you can fulfill them.
- Complete and read all of the written material you will receive from A.D.R. Staffing. Our prep material has proven to be an invaluable asset to our candidates.
- Go over interview questions with a friend or family member. Sometimes it’s the easy questions that stump us in an interview.
- Take a trip to the interview site to time how long it will take you to arrive for your interview.
- Gather all of your references information. You may be asked to provide it on paper on the day of the interview.
Interview Day:
- Be sure to get a good night’s sleep before the interview.
- Shower and groom yourself.
- Women should have their hair in a bun or up for a professional look.
- Have at least 2 business suits ready just in case they call you in for a follow-up interview.
- Bring a few copies of your résumé with you.
- Have examples of your work to show during the interview if needed. This is not always needed but may help you stand out from the crowd.
The Interview:
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early in case they need you to complete paperwork. You will feel much more comfortable knowing that you are early.
- Stand up and shake every interviewer’s hand with a friendly greeting.
- Keep constant eye contact and smile.
- Answer all questions asked in a complete matter. If you are unsure of what a question means, ask if they can elaborate on the question. If they ask you something that you know nothing about simply say that you do not know it but would love to learn it.
- At the end of the interview they may ask if you have any questions. You should have already thought of a question to ask by this point, but be careful. The preparation we provide will help you understand how to handle this portion of the interview.
- When the interview is over, shake their hand and thank them for their time.
